T-GEMBA
The Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research, Navi Mumbai proudly hosts visiting staff and students from Saint Mary’s School of Economics and Business Administration, California, USA every year as part of the ongoing Trans-Global Executive MBA Program (T-GEMBA).
The Pillai Group of Institutions is at the forefront of creating collaborations with international companies to enhance education in India. Since 2006, students from Pillai Group of Institutions have visited the US every year for the exciting opportunity to learn about business culture and strategy from the heart of Silicon Valley. In return, American students from St. Mary’s School of Economics and Business Administration travel to India every year to learn more about the country’s emerging role and aspiring plans for influencing the future world order. Both parties of students benefit hugely from being exposed to various international practices giving them more insight and understanding into the growth story of an emerging economy.
The Trans-Global Executive MBA Program (T-GEMBA) cross cultural business studies program takes place over six days every year at the Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus, New Panvel, Navi Mumbai. In recent years, the T-GEMBA group has partnered with the Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research (PiMSR) in various community service projects as part of the SSOSERVMAN (Social Service Management) Program in collaboration with Balprafulta, Creative Handicrafts and Mahatma Night Degree College. These projects are the opportunity for the incoming American students to share their expertise in areas such as business management. The T-GEMBA group made a study of certain operational issues, gift-giving and financing issues, logistics questions and strategic issues affecting social welfare organizations in Mumbai so they may share the results and subsequent business strategies.
During their visit to India, the incoming students were given a tour of some slum areas so they could meet and interact with some of the families living there. Students were also given the chance to visit orphanages and organizations run for the welfare of disadvantaged or widowed women. The students then provided a free of cost advisory project report and presentation on the specific areas investigated in the involved organizations.
Furthermore, the T-GEMBA exchange program included informative company visits and lectures from internationally acclaimed organisations including Tata Consultancy Services, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Reserve Bank of India and National Stock Exchange Limited. The program has been specially designed to give all participants a deeper understanding of the practices and disciplines followed by international Indian companies. Lecture series subjects include ‘Entrepreneurship and Turnaround Strategies’ and are presented by top business leaders.
As part of the T-GEMBA cultural exchange program, each visit is concluded with a rich display of indian cultural traditional dances and music for our foreign visitors to get a taste for the rich culture of India and for all to enjoy. The T-GEMBA programme is an integrated, practice-based and innovative degree programme offering the chance to learn about non-profit organizations management techniques as well as operational and organizational issues affective to this sector of the world economy.
