Community Service Day 2025
Community Service Day was celebrated on 25th January, 2025 wherein about 709 residents of various NGO’s (from shelters for destitute women, orphanages, old age homes, children of migrant slum dwellers etc.) were invited to the Panvel Campus and treated to a day of food, fun and learning. The Chief Guest for the day was Ms. Preeti Chatterjee, who is serving as the Advocacy & Capacity Building Head for Education; managing college and Institutional partnerships with The Movement, a non profit based out of Mumbai. At The Movement India, they create opportunities for everyone to serve in areas of Education, Mental Health and Anti-Human Trafficking. Ms Chatterjee has strong expertise in planning and establishing anti Human trafficking clubs across Maharashtra, in colleges of urban and rural India. Presently, under the leadership of National service scheme (NSS) Mumbai University, she has initiated AHT clubs in 20 colleges of Mumbai sensitising the youth of our country.
In her keynote address, she spoke about her journey with the NGO and the various social service initiatives undertaken by their organisation. She spoke about the achievements and the impact the NGO had made especially about the advocacy work in colleges. She also commended the Mahatma Education Society for their contribution to the less fortunate in society. After the inaugural ceremony, the chief guest and dignitaries visited the various classrooms where the activities with the guests were being conducted. The guests were taken back to their shelters in busses arranged by the Pillai Group after a day of fun and learning. Gifts and sweets were also distributed to all. This is a unique community service program that gives our teachers and students an opportunity to serve the underprivileged in our society and sensitize them to the various problems faced by them.
