Mahatma Education Society’s First Ever Annual Talent Show
Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai Group of Institutions conducted its first ever annual talent show titled “UBER RANG” on 1st February, 2012 at Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus, Panvel.
Uber Rang is an inter MES institution competition and a forum for the students to flaunt their talent and an opportunity to raise funds towards worthy causes.
This talent show is a fundraiser to nurture two causes that is very dear to the Pillai Group of Institutions.
- To promote the activities associated with Community Service Day
- To nurture talent within the student community
The talent show was the brainchild of the Deputy CEO of Mahatma Education Society, Mr. Franav Pillai, who felt that it is important to motivate students to get involved in community service and at the same time give them a forum to showcase their talent.
UBER RANG was widely accepted by the students from all campuses got about 135 registrations. Two audition rounds were conducted and 21 performances were finally shortlisted for the main event. These performances were displayed by 75 students ranging from classical solo singing and dancing to group performances in various forms viz. Indian fusion, western dance, acrobatics, martial art, mimes etc. to an audience of approximately 1000 people including students, faculty and parents from the whole MES family. Prominent judges from the entertainment industry were called in to judge this grand event. Singer Caralisa Monteiro, musical composer Charles Vaz and rhythmic dancer Tamana H. V. graced us with their presence to be judges for the competition. Special guest of the evening was one of India’s top DJ’s, DJ Dev. After delighting the crowd with beautiful performances worthy of Uber Rang a total of 6 acts were awarded prizes.

Dr. Daphne Pillai, Chairperson of Mahatma Education Society was very happy with the response the talent show generated and felt that getting involved in the community makes it healthier and livelier and students and faculty must be encouraged to play an active part in giving back to society in whatever small measure possible.
Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai, CEO of the Pillai Group of Institutions has always stressed the need of co-curricular activities especially towards the cause of society as he believes that it helps students to develop a well rounded personality and encourages them to become able citizens of our country.
