UBER RANG 2020

The Community Service Day ended with the fundraiser talent show, UBER RANG held in association with Times of India. Uber Rang is an inter MES institution fundraiser talent competition to promote the activities associated with Community Service day conducted every year by the Pillai Group of Institutions. Every year, after the observance of Community Service Day in the morning, students from across the MES institutions work together to create a dazzling display of young talent. All the surplus generated at the UBER RANG festivities is used for the affiliated NGOs at the annual MES Community Service Day thus involving students towards helping the lesser fortunate section of the society and spreading the message of compassion and empathy.

This talent show, in its eighth edition is a platform for students to showcase their multifaceted talents to a large audience and generate funds for community service. The three-member jury consisted of Mr. Rakesh Pandey, Deputy Cheif Manager, the Times of India, Ms. Riya Rathod, Miss Mumbai 2018 and Campus Princess 2019 and Mr. Tajinder Singh, noted singer, composer and a finalist on the Indian Idol Season 9 Show. The event was a huge success as over 135 students showcased their unique talents to a packed audience of over 500 faculty, parents & students. The performances ranged from skits, singing and dancing to group performances in various forms viz. Indian fusion, western dance, classical performances, table recital, folk dances, band music etc. The winners were given trophies and cash prizes.

During the break, a carnival parade conducted by over 100 students showcased the journey and accomplishments of the Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai Group of Institutions over the last five decades; a resplendent journey from a single school to a multi-institution group, currently housing 35000 students annually.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai, CEO of the Pillai Group of Institutions mentioned that it was the philosophy of Mahatma Education Society to provide a platform for students to exhibit their talents and that too with a focus towards a charitable cause. He spoke about the students’ participation in various community development programs, which include teaching in the nearby villages, planting trees and actively participating in cleaning the environment.

Each winner was awarded a trophy by the judges. The show ended on a happy note with the group picture of all the winners along with the judges and the Pillai family.
